RUHLMAN CONTINUES STREAK, SECOND AT ROAD AMERICA

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 7, 2004) — Staring from the pole, top Corvette driver Randy Ruhlman
dominated the first 18 laps of the 25-lap Motorock Trans-Am Series race at Road America in his
Preformed Line Products/Coyote Closure Chevrolet Corvette. Ruhlman was eventaully overtaken by the
race winner, former c hampion Tommy Kendall in a Rocketsports Jaguar on Lap 19. Round Seven of the
Motorock Trans-Am Series went under caution late on Lap 20 and disappointingly finished under yellow
without resuming racing.

Today’s second-place finish gives Ruhlman his third podium of the year, having finished second in Toronto,
and third at Infineon. Ruhlman gained valuable championship points this weekend for his efforts. He won
an additional point for winning the pole, for leading a lap, and for leading the most laps. Ruhlman is
currently tied for third in the points with Jorge Diaz, Jr., just nine points from the lead. Ruhlman is just
one point from Kendall in second.

Ruhlman laughingly commented at the post-race press conference, “We had a great car today and we
were running well. A lot of times you don’t have fun running alone in a race, well I was having A LOT of
fun running alone. As a matter of fact, I could have done with a several more laps without seeing Tommy
Kendall. We had a good time, it was a lot of fun, but Tommy was closing in. We made just a couple of
mistakes out there, and it was enough to give him that edge. And out here, that is all it takes. You have
run a perfect game when you are running against guys like Tommy and the Jags. We will get it together
and come back strong at Denver next week.

“This weekend and the last few races have been a big boost for us. We were very disappointed at the
beginning of the year with a couple of mechanicals: two really bad races. I mean basically DNFs, at Long
Beach and Portland. And to be back up in the points battle and be fighting for the championship coming off
a strong race here, we are looking forward to Denver and trying to keep this points race close. We’ll try as
hard as we can to keep that Corvette up front,” finished Ruhlman.

The start was be Ruhlman’s 144th in Trans-Am. Ruhlman has two seconds, a third and two fourths so far
this season in five straight races. He is the leading Corvette driver in the Series and has scored Corvette’s
highest finish of the year. The race was televised LIVE on HDNet and a highlight show will be broadcast on
SPIKE TV on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. EDT.

Randy Ruhlman finished sixth overall in 2003 in the Driver’s Championship in a Derhaag Motorsports
Corvette. He was seventh overall in 2002 while driving for Tom Gloy Racing, with a second (and a 3rd in
2003) at Trois Rivieres and third at Miami. Ruhlman was awarded the 2002 BBS Wheels "Most Improved
Driver of the Year". Randy Ruhlman is fifth overall in Top Ten finishes in Trans-Am history.

Ruhlman's Chevrolet Corvette is fielded this year by the Minneapolis-based, Derhaag Motorsports, led by
former Trans-Am driver Jim Derhaag. Jim Derhaag himself made 150 starts as a driver in the Trans-Am
Series before his successful move to full time ownership in 1998.
