MILLER QUALIFIES FIFTH, BUT WILL START AT THE BACK

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 6, 2004) — Johnny Miller, driver of the No. 64 Eaton Chevrolet Corvette,
timed fifth in today’s Motorock Trans-Am Series qualifying round at Road America, but an engine failure
will force Miller to start from the back in Saturday’s race. Miller recorded a 2:10.385-minute lap (111.767
miles per hour) on the third lap of the 30-minute session. However, a crankshaft failed on the following lap.

“We are a whole lot better than we were in this morning’s practice,” said Miller.
“The crankshaft and engine broke while we were in lap three, but the car had
more. We were just getting warmed up. We qualified fifth, but will still have
to start from the back.”

Miller still forecasts good results for his Derhaag Motorsports team on Saturday.

“We are putting a new bullet in the gun and should be loaded for tomorrow
morning’s practice session,” said Miller, who will make his 101st Trans-Am start
Saturday. “Tomorrow’s race should be a good one. The car is very fast, and I’m
ready to race.”

Miller, who came in second in the 2003 Championship, returns to the Trans-Am
Series this weekend in his first of two planned races this season.

The 35th Annual Rumble at the Road is scheduled for Friday and Saturday Aug. 6-7. The Trans-Am race is
scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. CDT on Saturday. The Trans-Am Series is part of a full weekend of racing,
which also includes the featured Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, as
well as the Toyota Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama, Formula BMW USA and Formula Dodge
National Championship.

The race will be broadcast LIVE on HDNet, with tape-delayed highlights coverage on Spike TV’s popular
“Dangerous Curves” timeslot, Sunday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. (EDT, PDT).
