Bell Battles To Third Place Finish
at Portland

PORTLAND, Oregon  (August 4, 2001) -- Justin Bell, driver
of the #40 Justin Bell GT Motorsports Experience Chevy
Corvette, claimed his first ever Trans-Am Series podium
finish Saturday in Portland. Bell originally crossed the finish
line in fourth place behind race winner Tommy Archer, Paul
Gentilozzi and Johnny Miller but a post-race review by series
officials determined that Miller had passed Bell under the
yellow during the final lap of the event.

"At Sears Point we started in 28th and finished fifth, so we
were hoping to come here and have a good qualifying," Bell
said. "That didn't happen and we qualified 11th. I enjoyed it
today and it was great for team." We had fun out there
today.”
With his highest finish to date in the series, Bell
extends his lead in the Rookie-of-the-Year points battle
over Dan Miller and Paul Fix.

Simon Gregg, driving the #59 Stonier Transportation Corvette for Derhaag Motorsports, finished in
12th place Saturday after improving four positions from his 16th place starting spot.

The next race, round eight of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup, will be held at Road
America on August 18th. The Johnson Controls 100 is part of the FedEx Championship Series
Motorola 220 weekend.. The race will be broadcast on Speedvision on Saturday August 24th
at 2pm eastern time.
